J.Mac's Custom Wood Docks See how a J.MAC'S DOCK is constructed --->
The job below was done completely by J.Mac's, from the rock stairs to the deck, and all the way to the last section of dock! Click any picture for a bigger view. Like a lot of my custom jobs, this beauty starts off with a permanent platform big enough to hang out in the summer with lawn chairs and it's a great place for stacking the whole dock system for winter storage. "Always nice to have your new system stored up off the ground and flat." This is so NICE, you have to look TWICE! This beautiful design has it all. Permanent platform on shore for easy access over the rocks to the dock and the platform doubles for level off-the-ground winter storage as well. Great outer patio space for company and a set of easy water access dock stairs. Mooring whips to safely dock your boat on windy days and a nice J.Mac's swim float. When we build our frames we use thick heavily galvanized 3 1/2" spikes that are driven in the old-fashioned way, with a hammer. Nail gun nails are about half as thick and have nowhere near the same amount of galvanized coating. FACT: We could save lots of time by getting out our nail guns and blasting away - but building a dock with BETTER QUALITY, being our only edge on the competition, we will not cut any corners in our Dock building construction. Full Frame Staining - STAGE 2 After our frames are nailed we give our dock frames a complete hand brushed stain job. Not just around the outside edges like every other dock builder, but a FULL COAT of stain. Tops, inside and outside of all stringers and end plates. Before any decking is screwed down this is the only chance that your dock system has to get a FULL 100% hand-brushed stain job!! As far as I know I am the only dock builder that takes their staining to such a level of quality. Decking your Dock System - STAGE 3 Whether we are building your wooden dock system with cedar decking or pressure treated lumber, our philosophy is the same. NO NAILGUNS. We use high quality 2 1/2" deck screws and EVERY screw hole is pre-drilled first to limit any splitting or cracking that happens so often when you are using a nail gun, or screwing without pre-drilling for that matter. After the decking is completely screwed down, we sand our edges so that it is free of any splinters or rough edges that come from the saw in the cutting process. Staining your Dock Section to a Finish - STAGE 4 When we put the finishing touches to our dock sections, we wrap it up with a final hand-brushed stain job. Rollers were meant for painting interior walls in your home, not for staining docks. ROLLERS will not get in between the spaces of your deck boards! If you are the type of person that appreciates the look of a quality hand-built wooden dock, LOOK NO FURTHER. J.Mac's Docks will not compromise on the quality of their wood dock systems just to compete with other cheaper-built wooden dock builders. We pride our wooden dock building program and have no plans of building cheaper or cutting corners just to compete with other companies wood dock prices. If you wish to save a couple nickels on your future dock investment, let me order you a nail gun special from another company. We are not prejudice and pride ourselves with an excellent service department as well and will Install or remove any dock of any other brand.
